What is Taiko?
Taiko is a decentralized Ethereum equivalent of ZK-EVM and universal ZK-Rollup. The aim is to allow developers and users of dApps developed for Ethereum Layer-1 to use them on Taiko without any changes. Therefore, dApps can be easily deployed to Layer-2, inheriting the security of Ethereum while generating lower transaction fees than Layer-1.
Currently, Taiko has received two rounds of financing totaling US$22 million, led by Sequoia China and Generative Ventures. Other investors include IOSG Ventures, GSR and GGV Capital.
Taiko Labs stated in its white paper that the Taiko Token (TKO) was introduced to reward block validators. In addition, with the mainnet launching in the first quarter of 2024, there will be potential airdrop opportunities at that time.
