On May 9, according to Gyeonggi Ilbo, the city of Incheon in South Korea will create the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) as a hub city for blockchain technology. The "Incheon Metanomics 2023" event was held today at the Songdo Convention Center in Yeonsu District, and the mayor of Incheon announced this vision. In addition, the mayor of the city signed a cooperation agreement with domestic and foreign companies in the country to build and develop a blockchain ecosystem. A total of 15 companies signed the agreement, including the crypto exchange Binance and semiconductor design company AMD. Through the cooperation agreement, the city plans to respond to the rapidly growing digital economy market through blockchain technology, cultivate an industrial ecosystem, and attract anchor companies. Specific strategies include supporting the development of new blockchain technologies, promoting token economy-related projects, holding blockchain technology summits, and establishing industry associations for industry-university-research-industry-politics management.
