The Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) will develop a central bank digital currency (CBDC) pilot project together with Ripple. In the pilot, the central bank will determine the practical application of a national stablecoin and come up with a design to simulate its circulation. “The project will analyze the benefits and risks that CBDCs or national stablecoins may pose in terms of accessibility, security, efficiency of electronic means of payment, regulatory compliance and, most importantly, protection of end-user rights and their privacy,” said CBCG Governor Radoje Zugic.
