According to Cailianshe, the Italian data protection agency has launched an investigation into OpenAI's illegal collection of user information.
The Italian Personal Data Protection Authority announced today that the use of the chatbot GPT will be banned from now on and OpenAI, the US artificial intelligence company that developed this platform, will be restricted from processing Italian user information.
The Italian Personal Data Protection Authority also pointed out that on March 20, the GPT platform experienced "loss of user conversation data and payment service payment information."
The platform did not inform users about the collection and processing of user information, and lacked the legal basis for collecting and storing large amounts of personal information.
OpenAI "must notify the Italian Personal Data Protection Authority through its representatives in Europe within 20 days of the measures taken to implement the Authority's request," otherwise it will be fined up to 20 million euros or 4% of the company's global annual turnover.
