Twin-Turbo consensus mechanism
Sei Network has developed the Twin-Turbo consensus mechanism which it claims is the best infrastructure for DEXs. Twin Turbo consensus mechanism is a combination of Intelligent Block Propagation and Optimistic Block Processing that improves throughput by 83%. That improvement allows Sei Network to deliver faster block confirmation times, which is very beneficial for DEXs that use order books.
Intelligent Block Propagation
Intelligent Block Propagation is a mechanism designed to improve block processing speed and efficiency. With that mechanism, block proposers can submit block proposals that only contain the transaction hash instead of detailed content. Sei Network's testing showed that in more than 99.9% of cases, each validator had transactions in their cache thanks to the information transfer mechanism in the network. Validators that receive approved block proposals can regenerate the original block using transactions from their mempool.
In case the transaction does not exist in the validator's mempool, they simply fall back to waiting for the full block proposal. The above approach allows Sei to increase throughput while ensuring transaction validity resulting in an increase in throughput of approximately 40%.
