James Bullard, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, a hawkish Fed official, said he raised his forecast for the peak interest rate this year from 5.375% to 5.625% given the continued strength of the U.S. economy. The forecast is based on the assumption that banking pressure will ease. On the same day on Friday, several other Fed officials believed that there was a good reason to raise interest rates in March.
