Qtum is a decentralized blockchain network that combines the concept of Bitcoin's unspent transaction output (UTXO) model and Ethereum smart contracts. The network has its own token standards (QRC-20, QRC-1155, QRC-721), including the native QTUM token for staking and governance.
Qtum works based on four key components: the UTXO Bitcoin model, the Solidity programming language for smart contracts, the Account Abstraction Layer (AAL) technology, and the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. Thanks to this combination, developers can easily port DeFi code and projects from Ethereum to Qtum, thus providing unique interoperability between blockchains.
