According to Cointelegraph, Sonic Chain achieved 720 milliseconds of transaction finality during the testnet phase, a major milestone in blockchain development. Finality refers to the guarantee that transactions are irreversible.

Sonic claims to be the world’s fastest Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chain, with “true” 720 millisecond finality. Andre Cronje, CTO of Sonic Labs, said the Sonic chain has a response time of 400 milliseconds and a finality of 720 milliseconds.

Most blockchains require multiple blocks after a transaction is executed to ensure that the transaction is irreversible, while Sonic only takes more than 700 milliseconds. Cronje believes that if this speed can be maintained on the mainnet, Sonic will become the fastest blockchain network.

Currently, Solana Mainnet is the fastest blockchain network with a transaction finality of 12.8 seconds. Although Solana has a block generation time of 400 milliseconds, it usually takes 31 block confirmations to reach true finality.

90% of Sonic’s transaction fees are returned to developers, making it an ideal choice for developers. The Fantom Foundation is also supporting the development of Sonic, announcing a $120 million distribution of Fantom (FTM) tokens to help developers migrate from Fantom to the Sonic network.
