According to ChainCatcher, American economist Steve H. Hanke called crypto investors "psychopaths." He cited research from the University of Toronto that cryptocurrency holders show lower levels of analytical and scientific thinking and are more likely to exhibit psychopathology.

The study involved approximately 2,001 American adults from the University of Toronto and aimed to explore the psychological and social characteristics of individuals who invest and hold cryptocurrencies over the long term.

Many crypto community members were outraged by Hanke’s statement and deemed the research “inaccurate.”
