According to BlockBeats, on July 23, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted on the Warpcast platform that the most successful new ideologies in the past decade have tended to be problem-oriented and less involved in the meta-level.

He cited the example of how abstract libertarianism is weaker than it was a decade ago, but that its versions on specific issues, such as YIMBY (housing) and cryptocurrency, have been quite successful.

Other examples include e/acc theory focusing primarily on artificial intelligence, effective altruism moving from the meta-level to specific levels such as AI safety, animal welfare, and global public health, and the longevity movement.

He mentions Network Nation and Glen and Audrey’s diversity movements as possible exceptions, but overall this shift from the meta-level to the specific level is a strong pattern.
