According to Odaily Planet Daily, U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D) from New Jersey was found by a jury on Tuesday to have accepted bribes, including gold bars and luxury cars, in exchange for his political influence.
Menendez is a staunch cryptocurrency critic who has claimed that Bitcoin is ideal for criminals.
Menendez is also a co-sponsor of the “El Salvador Cryptocurrency Accountability (ACES) Act,” which would require the U.S. State Department to report on the risks to the U.S. financial system of adopting Bitcoin as legal tender in El Salvador.
