As part of a landmark agreement announced last month, Apple will gain an observer position on the OpenAI board, further strengthening the relationship between the once unlikely partners, according to Odaily Planet Daily. Phil Schiller, head of Apple's App Store and former marketing executive, was selected for the position. He will participate as a board observer, but will not serve as a formal director. Apple announced in June that it would provide ChatGP in a series of new AI features for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The board's arrangements will take effect later this year, and Schiller has not yet attended any meetings. The role of board observer will put Apple on par with Microsoft, OpenAI's largest investor and major provider of artificial intelligence technology.
