According to Odaily Planet Daily, the Polygon community initiated a pre-proposal discussion on the first phase of zkPoS. The proposal proposes to use a zero-knowledge (ZK) validator to securely connect Polygon PoS to AggLayer to verify the network's consensus mechanism, thereby establishing the finality of network settlement to AggLayer. The consensus proof will be guaranteed by the Plonky3 proof system through Succinct Labs' SP1, a general zkVM that allows AggLayer to prove the execution of standard Rust. This upgrade will bring two major direct benefits: aggregating liquidity, users, and status through AggLayer, bringing greater network effects to users and developers; upgraded bridging experience, including permissionless token transfers. Polygon plans to propose a formal PIP in the fall and plans to deploy the connection between Polygon PoS and AggLayer by the end of this year.
