According to PANews, Matter Labs CEO Alex Gluchowski said that Ethereum Layer2 blockchain Linea decided to stop block production after Velocore was hacked, which highlights the need for Layer2 companies to prioritize decentralization as early as possible. Declan Fox, Linea's head of product, agreed that decentralization is necessary, but he emphasized that the network is "solidly" moving towards decentralization, and the time window required is much shorter than many competitors. Previously, Linea explained in the X post that on June 2, more than $2.6 million in ETH was transferred out of Linea after hackers exploited Velocore, a decentralized exchange based on Linea. Linea has since resumed block production, but the team decided to stop the zkEVM blockchain.
