According to PANews, people familiar with the matter said that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is considering reorganizing OpenAI into a formal for-profit company to resolve the conflict between the company's nature (non-profit company) and its revenue business. A person familiar with the matter who has spoken with Sam Altman said that Sam Altman may transform OpenAI into a for-profit company. Some investors in OpenAI want Altman to get an equity plan to ensure that his interests are aligned with the company's business.

Altman came up with this idea because the company needs to provide incentives for investors to attract a lot of money. If the company is not for-profit, it will not be able to provide incentives for investors and thus fail to achieve the expected goal of "attracting $100 billion in funds."
