According to Bloomberg, two lawyers from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Michael Welsh and Joseph Watkins, resigned this month after being told they would be fired if they continued to stay. They were the lead lawyers in the case against Digital Licensing Inc., a crypto platform known as DEBT Box. The SEC's lawsuit against DEBT Box has been questioned for false statements and misleading, as well as lack of evidence. The SEC accused DEBT Box and its executives of defrauding investors of at least $49 million in July. However, the asset freeze was lifted when a judge found that the SEC may have made "materially false and misleading statements." Earlier this month, the SEC applied to dismiss the case against DEBT Box, but has not yet received a ruling from the judge.
