According to Foresight News, Graeme Biggar, director of the UK National Crime Agency (NCA), called on Meta to reconsider its continued rollout of end-to-end encryption (E2EE) to once again take the privacy and security of network users into account. Meta’s current plan is to strengthen the security of Instagram users’ private chats by rolling out so-called “zero access” encryption, which poses a threat to child safety.

“This is a trend, and we’re not trying to stop encryption, we fully support encryption and privacy, and even end-to-end encryption is absolutely fine,” Biggar said. “We hope that the industry can find ways to still provide us with the information we need.”
