According to the Daily Planet, Google has established a partnership with the social media platform Reddit, where Reddit will provide its content to train Google's artificial intelligence (AI) models. Google can use Reddit's data application programming interface (API), which provides real-time content from the Reddit platform, allows access to Reddit's extensive content, and is able to display Reddit content in Google's products.
Reddit will have access to Vertex AI, a Google AI-driven service designed to enhance the company's search results. Reddit clarified that the update will not affect the terms of its data API, which maintains restrictions on commercial access without developer or company approval. The partnership with Google comes after Bloomberg reported that Reddit had reached a $60 million training deal with an undisclosed AI company.
