Last year, the total amount of processed transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain reached $19 trillion.
Pierre Rochard, Vice President of Riot Platforms, one of the leading cryptocurrency mining companies, reported that in 2024, the Bitcoin blockchain processed transactions totaling an impressive amount of over $19 trillion, which is an increase of 121% compared to 2023, and for the first time since 2022, it managed to reverse the trend of declining transaction volumes.
Rochard emphasized that Bitcoin not only maintains its role as a reliable store of value but is also actively used as a medium of exchange. This data indicates the growing popularity of Bitcoin as a tool that not only preserves but also effectively redistributes wealth.
However, the main reason for this result is not the increase in the number of transfers, but the rise in the value of Bitcoin, as during this period, the price more than doubled: from $44,000.54 in 2023 to $108,364.54 last year, which played a key role.
