XMoney Code Leak Speculates Musk to Launch Coin? Bitcoin and Dogecoin as Payment Options?
On January 3, 2025, tech researcher Aaron Perris released what appears to be code from X (formerly Twitter), which mentioned "X Money is not available in your state," sparking user speculation about the launch of X's payment feature. Previously, X's CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed on New Year's Day 2025 that the "X Money" payment feature would be launched that year, aimed at providing funds transfer and tipping services.
X Payments LLC has obtained funds transfer licenses in 39 states in the U.S., while certification is still pending in 11 states, meaning X Money may launch first in the states where it is certified. Its main functionalities include allowing users to tip creators, and there is speculation in the market that it may integrate cryptocurrency payments. Musk's supportive stance towards Bitcoin and Dogecoin has led outsiders to speculate that both could become payment options. Tesla holds Bitcoin, and former President Trump’s support for Bitcoin also increases the possibility of it becoming an officially supported cryptocurrency.
Venture capital firm Lightspeed predicts that Musk has not taken further action regarding Dogecoin and that the X platform may launch a native token. If "X Money" goes live and adopts cryptocurrency payments, it will elevate the status of cryptocurrencies and Musk's influence, encouraging more businesses to accept cryptocurrencies. Additionally, as regulations loosen, the cryptocurrency market will mature, allowing investors to cautiously assess risks and seize opportunities.
