KnowHere Media News: Evan Van Ness, founder of the Week in Ethereum News (WiE), posted on social media: 'Due to a conversation with the leadership of the Ethereum Foundation (EF) earlier this year, I announce that this newsletter will cease operations because the communication indicated they believe continuing the operation (of the Ethereum News Weekly) is not valuable.
In the remaining time of 2024, WiE received very little funding support from the Ethereum Foundation. Although this support was mostly symbolic, the EF leadership's decision to cut this trivial support clearly indicated that WiE would end immediately.
The Ethereum Foundation's withdrawal of support made it clearer than any other way that it's time for WiE to end.
(The Ethereum News Weekly) once had good performance. Over the years, many developers told me at conferences that WiE had an impact on their Solidity or security careers. They often mentioned that this newsletter influenced their decision to purchase ETH. Once upon a time, this veteran newsletter was the upstream source of most Ethereum news support.
Unfortunately, WiE failed to find a sustainable business model. Advertising and sponsorship are difficult to sell because the marketing director does not value developers. I have high standards for the content, but completing it in a profitable way has proven to be too time-consuming.'
