Taiwan Mobile's exchange is expected to start operations as early as next year, partnering with Fubon Bank.
Taiwan Mobile's general manager Lin Zhichen revealed in an interview with (Commercial Times) that its subsidiary Fusheng Digital has been approved by the Financial Supervisory Commission, becoming the 26th legal virtual asset service provider, and the cryptocurrency exchange is expected to officially start operations as early as 2025.
According to reports (Web3+), the layout of Fusheng Digital has long been traceable. The company has applied for three trademarks: 'OP Crypto Asset Ledger', 'OPcrypto', and 'OPcryptoex', indicating that Taiwan Mobile has already prepared to enter the cryptocurrency market.
In addition, Fusheng Digital has recruited talents with rich fintech experience, including Han Kuanju, who was involved in the development of the Pi wallet, as the general manager.
Lin Zhichen revealed that Fusheng Digital's cryptocurrency exchange will collaborate with Taipei Fubon Bank to conduct transactions in New Taiwan Dollars. He pointed out that currently, only about 4% of the population in Taiwan holds cryptocurrency assets, which is far lower than the scale of stock investors, indicating significant growth potential in the future.
Lin Zhichen is optimistic about cryptocurrencies; fiat currency will be replaced within the next 30 years.
