🇷🇺⚡ Russia Bans Cryptocurrency Mining in 10 Regions Starting in 2025 💻⛏️
🚨 The Russian government has announced that, starting from January 1, 2025, cryptocurrency mining will be banned in 10 regions:
📍 Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya, Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.
⏳ The measure will be valid until March 15, 2031.
❄️ In addition, in regions such as Irkutsk, Buryatia and Zabaikalsky, seasonal restrictions will be applied during the winter months (November to March), to avoid overloading the electricity system during peak consumption.
⚠️ Why the ban?
Mining consumes about 1.5% of the country's total energy. With industrial demand on the rise and harsh winters, the government is seeking to maintain the balance of the energy system ⚡🏭.
📜 Despite the legalization of mining in 2024, requiring registration with the Federal Tax Service, these new restrictions aim to ensure a sustainable electricity grid and avoid supply problems.
📉 Miners located in regions with cheap energy will be the most impacted.
