Co-founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin decided to donate 10 million Thai baht (about $292,230) to the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand.
It is presumed that these funds will go towards supporting the zoo's operations, financing a wildlife conservation program, and organizing an exhibition dedicated to the pygmy hippopotamus Mu Deng, who inspired the creation of the popular meme coin MOODENG. Moreover, Buterin has officially taken Mu Deng under his care for the next two years.
The donation, announced by the director of the Thai zoo, will be paid in two installments: the first installment of 5 million baht will be transferred on December 26. Regarding the date of the second payment, Buterin stated it would be announced later, but the money would be transferred no later than a year after the first payment.
The news of Buterin's donation and the temporary 'adoption' of the little hippopotamus Mu Deng led to a sharp increase in the price of the meme coin MOODENG. Literally two hours after the announcement, the asset's rate doubled.
Despite the token already having corrected, its daily growth exceeded 66%. The market capitalization of MOODENG surpassed $85.5 million, according to CoinMarketCap.
