What happened next was that Animoca Brands discovered that this post was made by hackers! The hackers had compromised Yixiao's account and released this false information. Animoca Brands stated that they would provide an explanation once the account was recovered.

Although Animoca Brands has not disclosed how Yixiao was hacked, a cryptocurrency investigator named ZachXBT speculated that Yixiao might have fallen for a phishing email.
These hackers have stolen about $500,000 from 15 similar vulnerabilities over the past month, including projects like the Arena and Brett.
ZachXBT mentioned that these hackers love to put on a show, impersonating teams and sending warnings about copyright infringement, when in fact they just want to trick users into clicking on passwords or two-factor authentication codes. With this information, the hackers can continue to use the account to spread scams.
