#2024withBinance OpenAI, the developer of the ChatGPT chatbot, is planning to develop a humanoid robot. This was reported by The Information, citing its sources.

According to the publication, this idea has been discussed within the company for some time. This was stated by two informants familiar with the matter. However, details regarding the project are unknown at the time of writing.

The goal of such development is also not specified. At the same time, OpenAI has supported several startups in this area. In particular, this includes Figure Technologies.

In February 2024, the startup raised $675 million with a valuation of $2.6 billion. Among the investors is the OpenAI accelerator fund.

In August 2024, the company introduced the Figure 02 robot. This version received an improved AI model and cameras for perceiving the surrounding world. Like the first one, it uses OpenAI technology for processing voice commands and is designed for warehouse work.

OpenAI has also invested in another startup in this field — 1X. In January 2024, the latter raised $100 million. In June, the company introduced the humanoid robot EVE, and by August, a new model called NEO Beta was launched. Both are intended to assist in household tasks. $DOT $IMX $NEAR
