Adjustments related to Crypto ETF funds, including allowing fund conversions with real assets and staking for Ethereum products, are expected to occur soon under the new leadership of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, in an interview with Coinage, revealed that these issues could be reviewed by the regulatory agency soon after Paul Atkins takes over as Chairman. She shared:

"I am willing to reconsider both aspects [of fund conversion] with real assets and staking, to find the best way to design products for investors."

Dubbed 'Crypto Mom' due to her positive stance on cryptocurrencies, Ms. Peirce emphasized that consensus within the committee will be a decisive factor in facilitating the passage of changes.

Eric Balchunas, Bloomberg's senior ETF analyst, praised Ms. Peirce's remarks, stating that her efforts to enhance the utility of crypto products in the market are 'noteworthy.' He also mentioned that, although there are still many issues to discuss, the most important thing is the SEC's interest in these improvements. According to him, at that point, the regulatory agency will seek to build a legal framework to promote these changes.

A new wave of ETFs is forming

Balchunas, along with colleague James Seyffart, predicts that new Crypto ETFs will receive approval next year. However, this process is unfolding at a faster pace than expected.

Recently, the SEC approved hybrid ETFs proposed by Hashdex and Franklin Templeton, allowing for simultaneous tracking of Bitcoin and Ethereum. Although earlier than expected, this move is still consistent with analysts' views that these will be pioneering products in the market.

According to forecasts, the next ETFs will focus on Litecoin (LTC) and Hedera (HBAR), while products related to Solana (SOL) and XRP may have to wait until their legal status is clearer.

Balchunas expressed optimism about the new SEC administration, emphasizing that a 'wave' of cryptocurrency ETFs will soon emerge, opening new opportunities for investors and promoting the development of the global cryptocurrency market.
