BlockBeats news, on December 20, according to a report by Chainalysis, North Korean hackers stole $1.3 billion worth of cryptocurrency through 47 attacks in 2024, accounting for 61% of the global total, doubling from $660 million in 2023.

The report noted that North Korea's frequency and profits from large-scale attacks have significantly increased, while global hacking activity has declined in the second half of 2024. Meanwhile, several incidents in December indicate that the holiday season remains a high-risk period. The total amount of cryptocurrency stolen throughout the year was approximately $2.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21%, but still far below the approximately $3.7 billion in 2022.
