Ilya Lichtenstein, the hacker of the Bitfinex theft case, made his first public statement, denying the speculation related to the Netflix documentary and admitting to stealing 120,000 bitcoins alone. It is reported that Lichtenstein said in a video in prison that his father and wife were not involved in the case, and apologized to Bitfinex and the victims. Lichtenstein revealed that he has cooperated in the recovery of 96% of the stolen assets (about 114,601 BTC) in the past three years, and plans to work in cybersecurity after being released from prison to make up for past mistakes. His wife Heather Morgan has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for assisting in money laundering, and emphasized that her "Razzlekhan" image has nothing to do with the case, and she will publicly tell the true story in the future. The asset compensation hearing for the current case is scheduled for February next year, or it will decide whether the funds will be allocated to Bitfinex or affected customers. (CoinDesk)
