Techub News reports that Dylan Meissner, the former Vice President of Finance at Delphi Digital, has been sentenced to four years in prison and two years of probation for misappropriating nearly $4.5 million in cryptocurrency assets from the company.
According to court documents and statements, Meissner took out a loan of 50 Ethereum (worth about $170,000) from Delphi Digital in January 2022 to avoid personal cryptocurrency investment losses. However, he did not repay the loan until his termination in November 2022. Instead, during his tenure, Meissner took advantage of his position to steal approximately $4.46 million in assets and made false financial records in the books. Currently, U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Connecticut has ordered him to repay the embezzled funds as well as the loan he has not repaid.
