Ethereum and its Layer 2 solutions are turning the vision of the “world computer” into reality: a permissionless, global operating system designed to replace centralized trusted intermediaries.
However, to truly serve global users, the world computer still faces many challenges, including high off-chain computing verification costs, EVM Ethereum virtual machine performance bottlenecks, on-chain storage limitations, migration barriers for Web2 users, and reliance on centralized front-ends.
To solve the existing problems, we launched Super World Computer (SWC): a highly customized Layer 2 based on OP Stack, which has the following 5 major features:
Non-transferable Soul Gas Token: Reduces user onboarding costs and simplifies the transition from Web2 to Web3.
Parallel EVM execution: Improve performance and reduce latency.
Integrate EthStorage as Layer 3: Support long-term, low-cost storage of large-scale data.
New web3:// standard: Supports fully decentralized on-chain applications and dynamic websites.
Advanced fault-proof algorithms: reduce verification costs and speed up settlement time.
What is a super world computer?
QuarkChain's newly launched Super World Computer (SWC) project is a Layer 2 blockchain designed for decentralized AI applications with unparalleled scalability and security. By introducing the innovation of Gas Token, scalable on-chain storage based on EthStorage, web3:// access protocol, and fast finality fault-proof algorithm, it provides the perfect infrastructure for on-chain AI, full-chain games, and decentralized social platforms.
As an important player in the Ethereum ecosystem, QuarkChain is a testing ground for EVM and OP Stack technological advances, setting a benchmark for next-generation Layer 2 solutions.
Main features of the Super World Computer
Soul Gas Token
SWC Layer 2 provides a non-transferable Gas Token called Soul Gas Token to pay transaction fees for new users. It is distributed through airdrops, which reduces the initial cost of use for users and allows users to pay Gas without purchasing Gas Tokens.Pushing the limits of EVM performance through parallelization
Parallel EVM utilizes technologies such as Programmable Access Lists and Intelligent I/O Preloading to achieve parallel program execution and data reading, significantly improving execution speed.EthStorage as L3 programmable large-scale storage
SWC Layer 2 will integrate EthStorage as Layer 3, reducing storage costs to about 1/10,000 of the main network. This feature is supported by ESP Grants.Web3:// Access Protocol — Turning the EVM into an Unstoppable Web Server
The web3:// standard enables seamless access to on-chain resources, transforming the EVM into an unstoppable decentralized web server, paving the way for a fully decentralized web.Advanced Fault Proof Algorithm Based on OP
SWC Layer 2 builds an advanced fault proof algorithm Advanced Fault Proof Algorithm based on OP Stack, which improves the efficiency of dispute resolution. This algorithm significantly reduces the number of on-chain interactions and gas costs, while speeding up settlement time. This project has been supported by OP Grants.

Beta Testnet: The Next Step for Super World Computer Layer 2
We have completed the development and testing of the initial version of the SWC Layer 2 Alpha testnet. The core functions include using the beta version of QKC ERC20 Token as the L2 Gas Token and implementing the Inbox contract function in the OP Stack, which enables on-chain smart contracts to verify off-chain batch data. This function also supports decentralized sorting networks and long-term BLOB storage through EthStorage Layer 2.
We are about to launch a Beta testnet, which includes the integration of EthStorage as Layer 3 and the introduction of Soul Gas Token, a non-transferable Gas Token designed to drive mass Web2 user adoption. To support EthStorage as L3, we have enabled BLOB transactions on OP Stack Layer 2, which is critical to achieving programmable storage capabilities.
Funding provided by Optimism
QuarkChain and its ecosystem partner EthStorage have received Optimism grants in four key research areas and are working closely with OP Labs to make meaningful progress:
1. Research on Alternative OP Stack Zero-Knowledge Fault Proof Using WASM
2. Research and Development on Multi-Section Dispute Game
3. Extend the Availability of EIP-4844 Blobs by Integrating OP Stack
4. Retro 5 Grant from Optimism on Research and development on multi-section fault dispute game (joint work with EthStorage)
Roadmap
Technology Milestones
(Since much of the work described below will require collaboration with partners such as OP Labs and EthStorage, the final timeline may be adjusted.)
2024 Q3 (Completed)
We have successfully launched the first SWC L2 alpha testnet, using the test SWC ERC20 token as a custom gas token. In addition, we will introduce the inbox contract feature in OP Stack - which allows on-chain smart contracts to verify off-chain batch data. This feature will enable features such as a decentralized sequencer network and long-term BLOB storage through EthStorage L2.
2024 Q4/2025 Q1 (in progress)
We plan to launch the SWC L2 Beta testnet, with new features including the integration of EthStorage as Layer 3 and the introduction of Soul Gas Token. To support EthStorage as Layer 3, we will also enable BLOB transaction functionality on OP Stack Layer 2, which is essential for achieving programmable storage capabilities. At the same time, we are conducting extensive testing, including unit testing, end-to-end testing, integration testing, and Devnet testing, to ensure the high quality of the code.
2025 H1
As the Beta testnet matures, we plan to launch the SWC Layer 2 mainnet with default fault tolerance implementation. At the same time, we will work closely with OP Labs to promote upstream features including fault tolerance for Inbox contracts and custom Gas Tokens as part of the OP Stack Holocene (or future) upgrade. In addition, we will also introduce advanced multi-segment fault proof mechanisms on our internal testnet.
2025 H2
Once our multi-segment fault tolerance mechanism matures and passes audit, we plan to deploy it to the mainnet. At the same time, we will launch a high-performance EVM test environment on SWC Layer 2.
In the coming year, we plan to launch the SWC Layer 2 mainnet with a default fault proof implementation. In the meantime, we will work closely with OP Labs to drive upstream feature development, including Inbox contracts and custom Gas Token fault tolerance, to be incorporated into future upgrades of the OP Stack. In addition, we will also launch an advanced multi-segment fault proof mechanism on the public testnet.
Community Milestones
We will hold online AMA meetings regularly to establish close ties with the community and actively collect and answer everyone's questions.
As the mainnet launch approaches, core token metrics, including the allocation of Soul Gas Tokens, will be determined through community governance voting. Early adopters will also receive Soul Gas Token airdrops, a non-transferable token used exclusively for gas fees within the QuarkChain ecosystem. This token will play a key role in introducing a large number of Web2 users to strengthen our ecosystem construction.
