Golden Finance reports that scammers are spoofing support emails from hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger to trick users into sharing their seed phrases under the guise of checking for security vulnerabilities. Ledger users have reported that phishing scammers are impersonating support emails from the cryptocurrency hardware wallet provider to deceive users into revealing their wallet keys. According to screenshots shared on X and a BleepingComputer report on December 17, the fake emails claim that Ledger has suffered a 'recent data breach' and encourage recipients to verify their private seed phrases under the pretext of needing to 'protect' their assets. The email appears to come from Ledger's legitimate support email, but BleepingComputer reports that it was actually sent through an email marketing platform.
