Throughout the weekend, I was searching online for information about AI agents and found a very valuable article and an interesting case.

Before sharing this article and this case, let me first introduce two phenomena from the Virtuals platform.

In previous articles, I have mentioned the Virtuals AI agent platform several times.

This platform has a strong empowering action on tokens financially—requiring that all AI agent tokens issued on the platform must be exchanged and purchased using the platform token (VIRTUAL). Thus, the platform token becomes the entry point for these AI agent tokens.

In addition, many projects on the Virtuals platform have also mimicked the gameplay of Bitcoin's ecological rune tokens: airdropping to veteran players with diamond hands—those holding VIRTUAL tokens will receive airdrops, and those holding LUNA tokens will receive double airdrops...

As far as I know, three projects (MUSIC, PH, AIYP) have already done this, and I believe the number of imitators will only increase.

Below, I will first share the article mentioned above (link attached at the end).

After reading this article, I regret not discovering it earlier; otherwise, my understanding of AI agents today would be deeper and more nuanced.

This article has many brilliant points, one of which can enrich our imagination about the specific application scenarios where AI agents could be implemented in the future. The original text (and translation) states:

"

This model is very suitable for NFT brands that already have a community. Coinbase's @yugacohler has provided his own suggestions:

NFT brands should launch their own AI agents on @virtuals_io, interact with their communities, and distribute their own tokens.

There should be a CryptoPunk agent.

There should be a chubby penguin agent.

and

There should be a Remilio Milady agent.

Setting aside the speaker's intention to promote the platform, looking at this idea, the future use cases for AI agents will be extremely broad and could very well become a necessity for every project's operations.

Reading this, I am reminded of when Ethereum's layer two expansions began to flourish. I shared this perspective in an article back then:

I believe that more and more projects (especially those zombie projects) will borrow the trend of launching their own layer two expansion to boost popularity and extend the project's life. Later, Magic started to issue its own layer two expansion, Bored Apes began to issue their own layer two expansion, and even Uniswap issued its own Unichain.

And now, AI agents are becoming popular again. Is it possible that these zombie projects could leverage the AI agent trend to issue their own AI agent tokens, regain some popularity, and attract some funds?

I think this is very likely. Moreover, a current event is making me believe this even more, which is something in the NFT ecosystem.

When it comes to the NFT ecosystem, aside from CryptoPunks, the first brand that most of us can think of is Bored Apes. However, this position has now been surpassed by Chubby Penguins (Pudgy Penguins). As of the time of writing, the floor price of Chubby Penguins has exceeded 34 ETH, while Bored Apes is only below 20 ETH.

This surpassing has occurred recently, and I believe a direct factor triggering this surpassing is token issuance.

Facing such momentum from competitors, if Bored Apes want to regain their previously held position, aside from better long-term planning, I do not see any good short-term solutions.

If I must say, there is only one: issuing tokens.

But the problem is, Bored Apes already issued Ape in the previous round; how can they issue it again?

Not only have tokens been issued, but even the layer two expansion ApeChain has been created, seemingly exhausting all available methods.

Of course, there have been rumors recently that Bored Apes are raising $5 billion from A16Z again. However, such positive news is only beneficial in the long term; in the short term, its stimulating and boosting effect on the project is very limited.

But if we think about the currently booming AI agents, the idea will become clear.

If Bored Apes issues another round of AI agent tokens, giving a portion to holders of its NFT and Ape tokens for airdrops, and raising another portion through public fundraising, its momentum and token price could potentially rise sharply in the short term.

Moreover, issuing AI agents is not purely for token issuance; it is also a need for project operations.

Moreover, AI agents are also a key focus and favored track of their old employer A16Z.

This kind of situation, which satisfies both investor preferences and community preferences, is the best of both worlds.

Of course, this is entirely my wild guess; whether things will develop this way, we should return to reality and wait.
