Ubisoft's new blockchain game (Captain Laserhawk) launches on 12/18.
According to (Decrypt), French game developer Ubisoft will launch a new blockchain game (Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.) on December 18. This game is developed using Ethereum Layer2 blockchain Arbitrum technology and is a retro-style multiplayer shooter.
This game is inspired by the Netflix animated series (Captain Laserhawk: Blood Dragon Remix), which is adapted from Ubisoft's game (Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon), developed with characters from Ubisoft and is referred to by players as ‘Ubisoft Brawl’.
Ubisoft's Technical Director and Executive Producer Didier Genevois stated that (Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.) represents a new frontier in game development, where players become co-creators.
This game is Ubisoft's second title developed using blockchain technology, with the first being (Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles), which was released at the end of October.

(Captain Laserhawk) launch coincides with Ubisoft's operational crisis.
(Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.) is mainly planned by Ubisoft, Arbitrum, and Sequence. Nina Rong, head of the Arbitrum Foundation's partner division, emphasized that the goal of this game is to change traditional game development models and return creative power to the gaming community.
Additionally, Ethereum Domain Service has announced a collaboration with Ubisoft, marking its first entry into the gaming field, allowing (Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.) to integrate a unique domain card (ID Card) system.
In recent months, Ubisoft has faced an operational crisis, with not only (Assassin's Creed: Shadows) experiencing PR issues and delays but also internal strikes. Since the beginning of this year, its stock price has plummeted nearly 50%. (Reuters) previously reported that although the founding family of Ubisoft had discussions with Tencent regarding acquisition, there is currently no consensus.
Although the new blockchain game is about to launch, players are understandably concerned about whether Ubisoft itself can weather the storm and keep its games running continuously and sustainably.
