Ethereum is a decentralized and open-source blockchain system, which has its own cryptocurrency, Ether. ETH functions as a platform for several other #criptomoedas , as well as for the execution of decentralized [smart contracts].
Ethereum was first defined in a 2013 whitepaper by Vitalik Buterin. Buterin, along with other co-founders. Funding for the project was secured through an online public sale in the summer of 2014, with the blockchain officially launched on July 30, 2015.
Ethereum's very goal is to become a global platform for decentralized applications, allowing users around the world to write and run software that is resistant to censorship, downtime, and fraud.
