[Former SEC Cryptography Director Tenreiro Promoted to Chief Litigation Counsel] Golden Finance reported that Jorge Tenreiro, former head of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Cryptography and Network Division, has been promoted to chief litigation counsel, responsible for leading the SEC's litigation and investigation work. His appointment was only a few weeks away from the Trump administration taking over the White House. Tenreiro joined the SEC's Cryptography and Network Division in 2022, served as deputy director and took over as head of the department in June 2023. He led the SEC's litigation against Kraken, Coinbase, Tron, Ripple Labs and other important players in the crypto industry, and participated in the FTX case and the settlement of Terraform Labs and its former CEO Do Kwon, which brought the SEC a record high settlement of US$4.47 billion.
