According to Foresight News, as reported by Cointelegraph, Jorge Tenreiro changed his title on his LinkedIn profile to Chief Litigation Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), overseeing litigation and investigations for the agency's enforcement division, based on a now-closed job posting. Tenreiro joined the Crypto Assets and Cyber Division as Vice President in October 2022 and took over after the departure of the division's former head, David Hirsch, in June. During his tenure, he led multiple lawsuits against the industry by the SEC, including against exchanges Kraken and Coinbase, Tron and its founder Justin Sun, as well as years-long legal disputes with Ripple Labs.
Former Deputy Director of the Crypto Division, Mark Sylvester, and outgoing Commissioner Jaime Lizárraga's former legal advisor, Laura D'Allaird, both updated their LinkedIn profiles on December 2 to list themselves as the new co-heads of the Crypto Assets and Cyber Division.
