PANews reported on December 3 that the memecoin project DOGS, based on The Open Network (TON), announced it will donate over 6 billion tokens (approximately $4.5 million) to global non-profit organizations. A charity portal launched in late November allows non-profit organizations to apply for funding, and DOGS has committed to using unclaimed airdrop tokens for charitable causes.
The program includes a $150,000 collaboration with the American animal welfare non-profit Best Friends Animal Society to provide one month of care funding for adopted dogs. DOGS founder Andrew calls on the crypto community to work together to achieve the goal of 90% 'no-kill' shelters by 2025.
The DOGS project is inspired by the iconic dog image of Pavel Durov, the co-founder of Telegram. Its token airdrop covers 17 million users and aims to raise cryptocurrency awareness and promote animal welfare. The DOGS mascot 'Spotty' will also serve as the spokesperson for charity events.
