How can America get out of the current mess?
The United States currently faces two major problems: one is the close relationship between China and Russia, making it impossible for the U.S. to pull Russia back, and the other is that the more the U.S. interferes in China's internal affairs, the messier it gets. Biden is now in a dilemma, caught in a tough situation.
The U.S. once wanted to court Russia to oppose China, but now China and Russia are as close as one person. The U.S.'s decades-long global strategy has now fallen apart. The current situation is that Russia is supplying oil and gas to China, solving major problems. China is also fully supporting Russia's economy. The two countries have a strong mutual assistance relationship.
The current predicament is self-inflicted. The U.S. spent 20 years and $2 trillion in Afghanistan, only to withdraw in disgrace. If that money had been used to improve people's livelihoods, how many lives could it have benefited? Now, in the Ukraine issue, it is also stoking the fire, resulting in the European energy crisis and inflation—who is responsible for that?
The problem for the U.S. is not a lack of strength, but a wrong direction. It needs to reassess its strategic adjustment policies to get out of the predicament. Ultimately, the U.S. is too obsessed with hegemony and power.
