🔴🔴How my friend lost 1,000 $ because of a simple mistake🔴🔴
Yesterday, a close friend told me a story that deeply affected him. Here is what he told me:
"I honestly can't believe what happened to me. A few days ago, I wanted to send 1,000,$ in USDT from my Binance wallet to my account on OKX. I was in a hurry because I had to finalize an opportunity before it disappeared.
I quickly copied the receiving address from OKX and started the transfer. I selected the BEP20 network, because that's the one I use most often. I didn't even take the time to check if it was the right network.
Once the transaction was confirmed, I waited for the funds to appear on my OKX wallet. But nothing. I started to panic. I then double-checked the requested address and network. That's when I realized my stupidity: OKX was asking to use the network TRC20, not BEP20.
I couldn’t do anything. The 1,000 $ had gone to an incompatible network, and OKX doesn’t handle this kind of error. I tried to contact the support of both platforms, but they told me that the funds were unrecoverable.
What hurts me the most is that all this could have been avoided. If I had taken 30 seconds to check the details instead of acting in haste, I wouldn’t have lost that money. Since then, I have promised myself to never again transfer funds under pressure without double- or triple-checking every detail.”
Lesson:
Haste is the enemy of crypto transactions. Even for “small” amounts, always check the receiving address, the network, and the instructions before confirming a transaction. Mistakes in this area are almost always irreversible.
