The elected President of the United States Donald Trump will appoint Lebanese businessman Massad Boulos. Boulos's son Michael is married to Trump's daughter Tiffany. This was reported by Reuters, citing a statement from Trump on his own social network Truth Social.
According to sources from the publication, Boulos played an important role during Trump's presidential campaign, attracting Arab-American voters to his side. Moreover, he has extensive business connections in Lebanon, both among forces close to the Shiite movement 'Hezbollah' and among its opponents.
Boulos helped Trump win the vote in Michigan, where there is a large number of Arab-Americans, and where Joe Biden won in 2020. Boulos personally met with influential people in the Arab-American community, convincing them that Trump intends to put an end to the war in the Gaza Strip. As noted by the orientalist Marianna Beleyka, Boulos attracted to Trump's side the mayor of Hamtramck, Amer Ghalib, an immigrant from Yemen and the first Arab-American and Muslim to hold the position of mayor in the United States.
