Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum-based Layer 2 blockchain network, recorded a historic milestone with 11.447 million transactions in a day, surpassing other Ethereum Layer 2 networks. This growth was driven by meme coins like Clanker and Virtuals Protocol. In November, the decentralized exchange (DEX) on Base processed a monthly turnover of around $42 billion.
Base creator Jesse Pollak addressed centralized concerns and highlighted meme coins like BALD that boosted network activity. Base’s total committed value reached $10 billion, making it the second-largest Ethereum Layer 2 network with $18.3 billion. Base also achieved a new record of 106.26 transactions per second (TPS), surpassing 1 billion total transactions.
