Techub News reported that according to TechCrunch, security researchers conducted an updated assessment of the threat from North Korean hackers at the Cyberwarcon conference. Researchers said that North Korean hackers continue to disguise themselves as potential employees seeking to work in multinational companies in order to earn money for North Korea and steal corporate secrets that will help its weapons programs. Over the past decade, these imposters have stolen billions of dollars worth of cryptocurrency by posing as venture capitalists, recruiters, and remote IT workers, and have successfully circumvented a series of international sanctions. Microsoft security researcher James Elliott said that North Korean IT staff have infiltrated "hundreds" of organizations around the world by creating false identities.
