The crypto mining company MARA wants the United States to act faster to acquire Bitcoin
The cryptocurrency mining company MARA Holdings has called on the U.S. government to act more swiftly to ensure its leading position in holding and mining Bitcoin, viewing this as a national security issue. MARA emphasizes that the U.S. needs to take strong actions similar to how they did with gold, especially in the context of many countries reducing their dependence on the U.S. dollar. The company also notes that the U.S. holds over 200,000 Bitcoin, while China follows with about 190,000 BTC.
MARA believes that the U.S. holding a large amount of Bitcoin could help create economic stability and ensure security, especially as more countries are building Bitcoin reserves. They also propose that the U.S. should control a large share of global hashrate to prevent rival countries from controlling and manipulating Bitcoin transactions. MARA has outlined specific proposals to encourage domestic mining hardware production and increase investment in Bitcoin mining activities in the U.S.
