Attendees at Yuga Labs' ApeFest event in Hong Kong reported eye problems after attending the event.

Yuga Labs, the parent company of non-fungible token (NFT) collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), hosted an event for its community in Hong Kong. However, the post-event experience for some attendees has not been very good.

Yuga Labs: ApeFest participants suffer from eye problems

A community member wrote on X (Twitter) about an incident that occurred at a party in Hong Kong six years ago. They wrote:

“Six years ago in Hong Kong, Hypebeast held a party, outside contractors installed disinfecting ultraviolet lights, instead of stage lights, and people suffered similar eye injuries, burns, blindness and photokeratitis. “This may have happened.”

Lastly, BAYC clarified that they are trying to find the root cause of ApeFest's eye problems. The NFT company claims that “far less than 1% of those who attended and worked at the event had these symptoms.”

While many anticipate the bear market to be outperforming, the NFT market is still struggling. The screenshot below shows that the NFT sales count is near its yearly lows.

Meanwhile, in October, Yuga Labs announced a workforce reduction due to market conditions. Yuga Labs CEO Daniel Alegre, who took over in April 2023, is trying to engage with the community through numerous IRL events.
