Telegram developers have released a major update that provides mini-apps with full-screen mode, icons on the home screen, access to geolocation, and other features.

Applications will be able to use full screen in vertical or horizontal orientation.

They now have the ability to send accumulated stars (Telegram Stars) as gifts, for example, for achievements in games. Privacy settings allow managing this option through the profile.

Telegram Premium users will be able to set emoji statuses through mini-apps that reflect their current activity. Integration with other services' APIs will allow for automatic status updates when changing activities such as switching to listening to music, reading a book, or watching a movie.

To monetize projects, developers will be able to offer paid subscriptions for stars with various levels of rates and access. Other options for them include among others, customizing the loading screen and obtaining information about the user's device.

"The first implementations of some of the new features are already available in apps like Playdeck, Tiny Verse, and Major," noted the messenger's team.
