1. Former NBA star O'Neal agrees to pay $11 million to settle NFT lawsuit
Golden Finance reports that court documents show former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal has signed a settlement agreement involving his Astrals NFT project and Galaxy tokens launched in March 2022. The settlement amount will be used to pay the plaintiff's attorney fees and compensate NFT and token buyers. The company behind Astrals is also part of the settlement agreement, with $11 million covering the plaintiff's attorney fees and cash payments to NFT and token buyers. Previously, a federal court in Florida filed a class action lawsuit against O'Neal, accusing him of promoting unregistered securities on social media. The SEC had previously made securities-related charges against three NFT projects: Impact Theory, Stoner Cats, and Flyfish Club. The settlement agreement is still pending final approval by the judge.

Golden Finance reports that staking protocol developer Alluvial has completed $4.3 million in strategic financing, led by Variant. Other participants include Ethereal Ventures, Brevan Howard Digital, Fidelity's venture capital F-Prime Capital, and Nascent. This round of financing brings Alluvial's total financing to $22.5 million. This issuance is expected to conclude on November 20 and is a private placement aimed at qualified institutional buyers. The fundraising is expected to be approximately $833 million, of which $199 million will be used to repurchase MARA's existing $212 million convertible notes due in 2026. The remaining portion will be used for Bitcoin (BTC) acquisitions, asset expansion, and general corporate purposes.

Key points of this upgrade include the introduction of an uncompressed representation of the BLS12381-G1 group element to accelerate addition operations of group elements, the addition of a new protocol version, activation of gas budget-based blocking control features, restoration of the ability to start full nodes in epochs before the random beacon is enabled, and the removal of the discovery protocol for unsigned versions.
