🌸 Metaplanet plans to issue $11.3 million in bonds for Bitcoin purchase plan
Japanese investment advisory company Metaplanet plans to issue $11.3 million in one-year ordinary bonds with an interest rate of only 0.36%, and the proceeds will be used to increase Bitcoin holdings.
According to regulatory documents on November 18, the bonds are designated to EVO FUND and are fully guaranteed by Simon Gerovich, the company's president and representative director.
The bonds are set to mature on November 17, 2025, when repayment will be paid through a mortgage on the Hotel Royal Oak Gotanda owned by Metaplanet subsidiary Wen Tokyo Inc.
Metaplanet's stock price rose 5% on the Tokyo Stock Exchange after the news broke. The company also assured shareholders that the financial impact of the bond issuance on its fiscal year results is expected to be minimal, and left room for further updates on possible major changes.
In addition, Metaplanet has launched a new shareholder welfare plan to increase shareholder participation and encourage long-term investment. The plan includes working with SBI VC Trade, Bitcoin Conference, Bitcoin Magazine, Hotel Royal Oak Gotanda and Webull Securities to provide shareholders with Bitcoin-related experiences and discounts.
It is worth noting that Metaplanet previously purchased 156.7 BTC for approximately 1.6 billion yen, increasing its total Bitcoin holdings from 1,000 BTC to 1,018 BTC. This action not only reflects Metaplanet's commitment to cryptocurrencies, but also shows their determination to make cryptocurrencies part of their broader investment portfolio.
Metaplanet's issuance of bonds to raise funds to purchase Bitcoin not only shows the company's continued confidence in the cryptocurrency market, but also marks the growing importance of Bitcoin in financial investment and innovative practices.
In addition, Metaplanet's move is expected to drive more financial institutions into the cryptocurrency field, thereby opening up new growth opportunities and facing new challenges for the entire industry.
