Harmon pleaded guilty to operating a cryptocurrency mixer in connection with illegal activity. On November 15, U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell gave him a lenient sentence, citing his cooperation in the investigation of Bitcoin Fog founder Roman Sterlingov. The case also involved Ilya Lichtenstein, who participated in the Bitfinex heist. All three were sentenced within 48 hours.Harmon created the Helix mixer to improve the operation of Bitcoin Fog. Two years before his arrest, he stopped using Helix and testified in court, which reduced his sentence from the maximum twenty years to three. Authorities demanded that Harmon forfeit assets worth $311 million.
