Ripple CEO Urges Trump to Fire Gensler, Who Will Replace Him?
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse welcomed Donald Trump's victory by calling for the ouster of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler, on Trump's first day in office.
According to him, this step is very necessary for a regulatory overhaul that is more in favor of innovation in the crypto sector. Moreover, Gensler's dismissal has long been desired by the global crypto community.
Gensler is considered to be less transparent and too strict in law enforcement, in order to improve the SEC's image which is burdensome for crypto companies.
Garlinghouse even proposed several names that were considered suitable to replace Gensler, one of which was former SEC Commissioner Gallagher, who was considered to have the potential to be a leader who would bring better regulations.
In addition to the leadership change at the SEC, he also pushed for the passage of the digital asset market structure bill. He emphasized the need for bipartisan collaboration between Republicans and Democrats to keep the U.S. competitive in the global market.
Garlinghouse hopes that clearer regulations on the classification of crypto assets such as Ripple (XRP), Bitcoin (BTC), and Ethereum (ETH) can be realized soon, because this is considered important to eliminate ambiguity and open up great opportunities for the US crypto industry.
